Steelvision Conduct Referred To Victoria Police

  • Minister for Regional Development

The Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions has undertaken a comprehensive review of all aspects of a grant awarded to Steelvision after the company entered administration in January this year.

This inquiry has identified suspected fraudulent conduct by the company in relation to its Latrobe Valley Economic Facilitation Fund grant and the department has now referred these matters to Victoria Police for investigation.

The referral to Victoria Police relates exclusively to the conduct of Steelvision and does not involve any member of the public service or Government.

As this matter is now with Victoria Police, it would be inappropriate to comment further.

As stated by Minister for Regional Development Jaclyn Symes

"Regional Development Victoria is working with businesses impacted by the closure of Steelvision to discuss government programs that may be of benefit to them."

"Our Worker Transition Service is supporting retrenched Steelvision workers to get on the path to securing a new job."
