Steward cadetships to further boost Office of Racing Integrity

The Hodgman Liberal Government is delivering on its plan to build a strong and vibrant future for Tasmania’s racing industry by establishing two new steward cadetship positions in the Office of Racing Integrity.

The steward cadetships are being advertised this weekend.

The cadets will develop skills and experience in the essential areas of Racing Practice and Rule Interpretation, investigation and prosecution techniques, and animal welfare matters.

The Tasmanian Government has committed additional funding of $550,000 over four years for the Office of Racing Integrity to create the new positions.

The important role that the Office of Racing Integrity plays in the regulation of the racing industry in Tasmania cannot be understated, and these new positions will further strengthen integrity functions and encourage cadets to consider stewarding as a long-term career, with clear future pathways in the industry.

Applications for the steward cadetships close on 17 September 2018.

The Hodgman Liberal Government is a strong supporter of the Tasmanian racing industry and we are working to attract new participants to the industry through sustainable full time job opportunities such as these new cadetships.
