Sunshine Coast Water Police are appealing for information to locate a boat stolen from a private jetty in the Mooloolaba canals.
Around 2am on 6 January, at least two offenders took a white 2003 Powercat 2600 Sports vessel tied to a jetty attached to a residence on Tarwarri Crescent after keys were left inside. The boat was then driven towards the main Mooloolah river system.
A subsequent search of the area has failed to locate the vessel which is worth $140,000 and bears Queensland registration NS369Q. Police believe it could have been removed from the water and taken to the Hervey Bay or Moreton regions.
It was one of a number of vessels stolen from waterways connected to the Mooloolah River over the Christmas/New Year period, with three investigations currently underway regarding boat thefts on the Mooloolah River.
Anyone who has information or has seen any suspicious activity in the canal systems is encouraged to report it to Crimestoppers or Policelink.
Police are also urging those who live on or near canals to secure their watercraft, and to not leave keys, lanyards or property on vessels.
