Stolen car charges, Highland Park

Police have charged a 32-year-old man following investigations into a stolen car incident that occurred at a car dealership in Highland Park yesterday, August 14.

It will be alleged around 2pm, the man complied with procedures and took part in a test drive conducted by a salesperson from a Hinkler Drive dealership.

A short time later, the salesperson pulled over on McKenzie Drive to show the man some features of the vehicle at which time the man allegedly pushed him out of the vehicle and drove off.

The 65-year-old male salesperson was not physically injured in the incident.

Police located the vehicle abandoned and undamaged in an underground carpark in Tugun around 2.30am on Tuesday, August 15.

Following further investigations, police located and arrested a 32-year-old Robina man at a location along Waterways Drive in Coomera at approximately 11am.

He has been charged with one count each of robbery, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, driving without a licence, uttering and possess utensils as well as two counts of possessing dangerous drugs.

He is expected to appear at Southport Magistrates Court tomorrow, August 16.
