Stolen car intercepted in Clayton

A man has been arrested after he was nabbed driving an allegedly stolen vehicle in Clayton last night (28 November), Victoria Police say.

Officers spotted the Toyota Corolla about 11.10pm travelling along Ealing Crescent.

The vehicle failed to stop and continued driving through the area, with police attempting to intercept it on Blackburn Road.

The car lost control while trying to flee the scene, striking a police vehicle and coming to a stop.

A man allegedly fled from the vehicle on foot and was arrested by police a short time later.

He has been taken to hospital for observation under police guard and will be interviewed at a later time.

A female constable was also taken to hospital for observation after sustaining minor injuries during the collision.

The investigation is ongoing.
