Stolen dog returned home in time for Christmas

Police have arrested a woman following the alleged theft of a therapy dog in Essendon on Christmas Eve.

A woman left her dog Kyron outside a Mt Alexander Road supermarket while she ducked in for some last-minute groceries about 8.45pm.

She returned outside to find Kyron had been stolen.

A tip from a member of the public lead police to an Essendon address where it's alleged Kyron was located inside about 2am on Christmas morning.

Officers soon became unlikely Santas and delivered Kyron to his grateful owner.

She told police it was the best Christmas present she had ever received.

The alleged Grinch, a 26-year-old Essendon woman, was arrested and charged with theft.
