Police are investigating an incident on Roma Street this morning where a taxi was stolen and was later crashed into a vehicle, Queensland Police say.
Just after 4am, two girls and a boy entered a taxi on a Roma Street and asked to be driven to Zillmere.
When they were asked to pay the fare up-front, they left the taxi and got into the next one at the rank.
When they were again asked to pay up front, the trio got out of the cab and one girl began to damage the vehicle by bending the front passenger door backwards and slamming it forward.
When the driver exited the cab and asked her to stop, she became abusive, punching the driver in the face.
As the driver began to film the damage happening, the girl again began punching him in the face before she stole the man’s taxi and drove away on Albert Street (between Turbot St and Wickham Terrace) where it crashed into a parked car.
The taxi was abandoned at the crash.
Police would like to speak to a girl described as Aboriginal in appearance, 16-years-old, wearing dark clothes and black hair tied in a ponytail, as she may be able to assist with inquiries.
Investigations into the incident are continuing.
