Stolen Vehicle And Family Dog Appeal, Wynnum

Police are continuing to appeal for information and vision to assist ongoing investigations into the theft of a vehicle with family dog inside from Wynnum on Saturday 8 November.

Between 1.30am to 5am a 2012 black Toyota Hilux with Queensland registration 653SLY was stolen from Davidson Street.

The owner's German Shepard, Arnie, was inside the vehicle at the time of the theft.

Since receiving the report, police have worked around the clock following all lines of enquiry to locate Arnie and the stolen vehicle.

Reports of 'Arnie' sightings from members of the public took investigations across Brisbane Region and to surrounding districts. Unfortunately, the sightings were unsubstantiated.

At 4pm on 14 November, a member of the public located the stolen vehicle parked on Amelia Street in Fortitude Valley.

Arnie was located deceased inside the vehicle.

Investigations remain ongoing to identify and locate the offender.

Bayside Criminal Investigation Branch Officer in Charge, Detective Senior Sergeant Christopher Lafferty says officers are continuing to investigate any report that may lead to locating the offender.

"We hadn't given up hope of finding Arnie and being able to reunite him with his family. Investigators are devastated by this discovery and our thoughts are with the family at this difficult time."

"Officers remain committed to finding justice for Arnie and his family and will continue to investigate any report to identify and locate the offender."

Media and public are thanked for their assistance to date.

If anyone has relevant information or vision, including dashcam and CCTV, that they have not yet reported to police, investigators continue to urge them to make contact.
