Officers from Innisfail Criminal Investigations Branch (CIB) charged a 33-year-old man with multiple offences in Innisfail on June 9.
It will be alleged a Mitsubishi Lancer was stolen from a Germantown address early in the morning.
Around 10.40am, police sighted the Lancer on Ernest Street in Innisfail, where a man was allegedly seen getting into the driver's seat before driving off.
A marked police car activated their lights and sirens to intercept the vehicle before the driver allegedly drove away at speed.
Police from Innisfail CIB, Far North Tactical Crime Squad, Dog Squad, the State Flying Squad and Polair were deployed, before officers allegedly observed the Lancer being driven dangerously around Innisfail.
Around 11.54am a tyre deflation device was successfully deployed at Mena Creek, before the vehicle stopped on Juhas Road.
The man ran from the scene however was immediately located and arrested by officers.
A 33-year-old man was charged with one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a vehicle, driving whilst disqualified, evade and possession of dangerous drugs.
He was remanded in custody and is due to appear in the Innisfail Magistrates Court on June 23.
