Officers from the Cairns Property Crime Unit, Cairns General Duties, Far North Tactical Crime Squad and Far North Dog Squad have charged three people following theft of an Audi over the weekend.
It will be alleged overnight on 8 August three men aged 35, 28 and 22 broke into a Faculty Close property and stole a 2019 silver Audi A3.
This Audi was allegedly seen driving dangerously around Mossman and Cairns on the evening of 10 August.
Around 12.15am on 11 August, the vehicle was subject to a successful tyre deflation device deployment at Kewarra Beach.
The vehicle allegedly continued to drive on the rims before hitting the door of a police vehicle at the intersection of Kamerunga Road and Cairns Western Arterial Road.
The three men abandoned the vehicle and were arrested following a short chase.
A 35-year-old Mount Sheridan man was charged with one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a vehicle , obstruct police officer and evasion.
He was refused bail to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court today, 11 August.
A 28-year-old Woree man was charged with one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and obstruct police officer.
A 22-year-old man was charged with one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and obstruct police officer.
Both men in their twenties are due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on 28 August.
Investigations are ongoing.
