Stolen Vehicle in Alice Springs Leads to Multiple Arrests 5 January

Northern Territory Police have apprehended 3 youths in relation to a stolen motor vehicle in Alice Springs overnight.

Around 12:30am, police received a report that a residence was unlawfully entered on Lewis Street, Gillen, and a Toyota Camry was stolen from the location.

The Drone Unit, Dog Operations Unit and general duties deployed and the vehicle was tracked onto the Stuart Highway. The vehicle attempted a u-turn on Pedler Avenue where it became stuck and the occupants fled the scene.

Two females, aged 12 and 16, and a male, aged 15, were quickly arrested a short distance away.

The 16-year-old alleged driver remains in custody and is expected to be charged later today. The 15-year-old will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act 2005. The 12-year-old was conveyed home to a responsible adult.

The stolen vehicle has been seized for examination and will be returned to the owner.
