Stolen WWI and WWII medals found, SA

World War I and II medals stolen from Royal Park have been found and handed in to police, according to SA Police.

The items were found by contractors on a grass verge at the corner of Glenburnie Street and Frederick Road on 21 July. They saw the medals on the news last night and realised they hadn't handed them in yet.

The medals were brought into Port Adelaide Police Station this morning and the owner has been notified of their recovery.

The medals were stolen during a break-in at a Royal Park address on Saturday 16 July. The victim, who is the grandson of the medal recipient, was moving house and had packed up the medals for moving.

Police wish to thank the public for their assistance, and the contractors for finding and handing in the medals.

Anyone with information about the break-in and theft is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at http://crimestopperssa.com.au
