Bankstown detectives have charged a man following investigations into ongoing supply of prohibited drugs in the Sydney metropolitan area.
Strike Force Polar was established in July this year to target drug supply and manufacture within the Bankstown Police Area Command.
About 3.45pm yesterday (Thursday 15 October 2020), a 25-year-old man was arrested by officers from South West Metropolitan Operational Support Group at a home in Abel Street, Greenacre.
A search warrant was then executed at the Abel Street home where officers found cocaine and cannabis, more than $7000 cash and 10 extendable batons and gel blaster firearms.
As investigations continue, officers stopped a 24-year-old man as he entered a vehicle parked on Avoca Street, Yagoona, about 7pm.
A search of the vehicle revealed 27 bags of cocaine with a total weight of 18g.
The men were taken to Bankstown Police Station where the 25-year-old man was charged with supply prohibited drug – greater than commercial quantity, supply prohibited drug on an ongoing basis, knowingly deal with the proceeds of crime, direct the activities of a criminal group, possess prohibited weapons, and traffic offences.
He was refused bail and will appear in Bankstown Local Court today (Friday 16 October 2020).
The younger man was released without charge pending further inquiries.
