Strike Force King probes suspicious death of Binnaway baby

Police are appealing for information from the community as investigations continue into the 2018 death of a baby in the state's Central West.

About 10am on Monday 23 July 2018, emergency services were called to a home at Binnaway following reports a nine-month-old girl was unresponsive.

The baby was taken to Coonabarabran Hospital by NSW Ambulance Paramedics, and, despite the efforts of medical staff, she died a short time later.

Officers from Orana Mid-Western Police District established a crime scene, which was examined by specialist forensic officers.

Strike Force King was established by local detectives to investigate the circumstances surrounding the baby girl's death, which was deemed as suspicious.

Despite extensive inquiries at the time and over the years, no one has been charged.

After recently receiving new information, strike force officers executed a crime scene warrant at a home at Binnaway from about 10am yesterday (Wednesday 31 May 2023).

While investigators await the results of the fresh examinations, they are appealing to the community for information which may assist their ongoing inquiries.

Anyone with information is urged to contact detectives at Gilgandra Police Station or provide information through Crime Stoppers.

Anyone with information which may assist Strike Force King detectives is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is treated in strict confidence. The public is reminded not to report information via NSW Police social media pages.
