Strike Force Lanrik Formed After Baulkham Hills Death

Strike Force Lanrik has been established to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of a man whose body was found in Sydney's north-west yesterday.

Officers attached to The Hills Police Area Command were conducting a coordinated search of bushland near Torry Burn Reserve, Baulkham Hills, about 10.15am (Friday 14 August 2026), when the body of a man was discovered in a waterway.

A crime scene was established and an investigation commenced by detectives from The Hills Police Area Command under Strike Force Lanrik.

While the body is yet to be formally identified, police are speaking with the family of a 43-year-old man who was reported missing to officers attached to Riverstone Police Area Command, after he was last seen at a home in Schofields on Sunday 2 August 2026. He was reported missing on 5 August 2026 to Riverstone Police Area Command and a public appeal for information was issued on Thursday 13 August 2026.

A post-mortem examination is expected to be conducted in coming days to formally confirm the man's identity and determine his cause of death.

Detectives are now appealing for anyone with information relevant to the investigation to call Castle Hill Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
