Strike Force Raptor charge man with negligent driving after attempting to evade police

A man will appear in court today charged with negligent driving after attempting to evade police at Lakemba last month.

Just before midday on Monday 6 July 2020, officers conducting high-visibility patrols at Lakemba, approached a stationary black Range Rover in a no stopping zone on Haldon Street.

Upon sighting police, the driver allegedly crossed onto the wrong side of the road and drove through a red light to avoid officers.

Following extensive inquiries, investigators from the Criminal Groups Squad's Strike Force Raptor stopped a black Range Rover at Liverpool Street, Sydney, about 11.30pm on Friday 24 July 2020.

The driver, a 40-year-old man, was arrested and taken to Surry Hills Police Station, where he was charged with negligent driving, resist or hinder police officer in the execution of duty, not comply with direction given by police officer and not give right change of direction signal with lights.

The Greenacre man was granted strict conditional bail to appear at Bankstown Local Court today (Wednesday 26 August 2020).
