Strike Force Raptor charge OMCG member over the use of counterfeit currency, NSW

A member of the Comanchero outlaw motorcycle gang (OMCG) will appear at court today charged with fraud and counterfeit cash offences, NSW Police say.

Earlier this year, the Gangs Squad’s Strike Force Raptor commenced investigations into the cultivation and supply of cannabis in the state’s Central West.

On Wednesday 23 August 2017, Strike Force Raptor, assisted by the Public Order and Riot Squad, executed a search warrant at a home at Oberon, where they seized numerous items, including counterfeit currency.

A 45-year-old man was charged with drug and firearms offences at the time.

As a result of further inquiries, the 45-year-old man was arrested by Strike Force Raptor at Bathurst Police Station on Wednesday 15 November 2017.

He was charged with two counts of utter counterfeit money knowing it to be counterfeit and dishonestly obtain financial advantage etc by deception.

The man, who is a member of the Comanchero OMCG, remained in custody to appear at Bathurst Local Court today (Monday 11 December 2017).

Strike Force Raptor was established by State Crime Command’s Gangs Squad in 2009. It is a proactive and high-impact operation targeting outlaw motorcycle gangs and any associated criminal enterprises.
