Logan City Council has further strengthened its processes for governance, compliance, risk management and meetings by endorsing new frameworks and codes at this week's Ordinary Meeting.

City Governance Committee Chairperson, Councillor Lisa Bradley, said it was important to regularly review and update principles and overarching policies so the community could have confidence in Council at all times.

"We've had several systems and processes in place for a long time to ensure good governance as Council makes decisions on behalf of the City of Logan," Cr Bradley said.

"However, the documents have now been formalised under our new Governance Framework and apply for both elected members and Council employees.

"We also adopted a framework that will ensure we continue to reflect best practice in compliance, and managing and mitigating risks as we deliver programs and services to the Logan community.

"This framework meets Australian standards, but we will be undertaking more work to develop better reporting processes for the organisation to integrate governance, compliance and risk practices.

"It's important that Council has these structures in place so we do the right thing by our residents and ratepayers."

Council's Local Government and Committee Meeting Code, adopted in December 2019 by the Interim Administrator, was also updated to reflect recent amendments to the Local Government Act 2009.
