Student Officer Fined for DUI in NW Metro Region

A student police officer has been fined after allegedly returning a low range drink driving offence in Sydney's northwest early this morning.

Just after 1.00am (Saturday 14 February 2026), officers attached to The Hills Highway Patrol were conducting stationary testing on Windsor Road, Castle Hill, where they directed the driver of a Mazda sedan to stop.

The driver of the vehicle, a 22-year-old man, was arrested after returning a positive reading.

He was taken to a nearby mobile testing bus for secondary testing, which allegedly returned a breath analysis reading of 0.075.

The student police officer was issued a Traffic Infringement Notice for drive with low-range PCA.

His driver's license was suspended for three months, and his professional suitability is under review.
