Submissions Open for Draft 2023/24 Budget

Latrobe City Council endorsed the Draft 2023/24 Budget at its April Council Meeting and is now calling for submissions.

Community members are invited to review the Draft Budget and make a submission before 5pm on Friday 5 May 2023.

The Draft Budget is presented on a cash basis as a balanced budget that aims to support the themes and strategies of the Council Plan 2021- 2025. Capital works program includes investment in renewing existing infrastructure of $21.6 million, with $12.6 million of this being committed to the municipal road network.

Key capital works projects to be completed include upgrading the Marshalls Road/Traralgon-Maffra Road intersection, Flood Recovery Projects, and completion of Stage One of the Gippsland Logistics Precinct and New Energy Projects which support the region's economic transition.

Mayor of Latrobe City, Councillor Kellie O'Callaghan welcomes community members to share their views about the projects, services and initiatives included in the Draft Budget.

"The projects and services outlined in the draft budget align with the objectives of the Council Plan 2021-2025, which was informed by extensive community engagement and we welcome ongoing input to understand our community's views," said the Mayor

"The Draft Budget forecasts an operating surplus of $7.5 million, after raising rates and charges of $92.1 million out of a total revenue of $150.9 million and presents a strong overall financial position.

"Council encourages the community to engage in the budget process by making a submission via the Have Your Say Latrobe City platform and taking part in our Facebook live session on 2 May."
