Sudden death at Bahrs Scrub, QLD

A 46-year-old woman has died after being thrown from a horse at Bahrs Scrub earlier this morning, Queensland Police say.

Around 7.15am the woman had been riding a horse accompanied by another woman on a horse when they left an acreage property at Majella Crescent traveling single file along the roadway.

After a short distance it is believed the woman’s horse was spooked by a passing vehicle, causing her horse to buck and throw her to the ground.

While the woman was on the ground the horse has struck her in the head causing significant head injuries.

The woman was transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital for treatment but died a few hours later.

Police are investigating the incident and will prepare a report for the Coroner.
