Revered Melbourne architect and designer, Sue Carr AM, has been awarded the Property Council's Victorian Legacy Award, highlighting an inspiring career that has spanned more than fifty years.
Ms Carr accepted the prestigious award at the Victorian Property Council's annual People in Property Awards (PIPA) at Centrepiece, Melbourne.
A leader in the field of design, Sue's creative vision has been behind some of Australia's most iconic and recognisable builds - such as the Australian Stock Exchange, Norton Rose Fulbright national offices, the luxury hotel United Places in South Yarra, and Jackalope Hotel on the Mornington Peninsula.
Property Council Victorian Executive Director Cath Evans said that Ms Carr has made a lasting impact on Victoria's built space, while also paving the way for women in the industry.
"Since founding her studio in 1971, Sue has proven again and again what timeless design really means. From artfully designed residences and hotels to polished industrial spaces and office buildings, Carr is known for its innovation, creativity and longevity.
"Sue's contributions extend beyond design. She has been a passionate advocate for education and for supporting women in business, receiving a Member of the Order of Australia in 2021.
"The Legacy Award recognises individuals who have left a remarkable impact on the industry. and we couldn't be more delighted to recognise and thank Sue for her contribution."
Sue Carr AM said that she was honoured to receive the Legacy Award.
"While I am incredibly humbled to receive the Legacy Award, and to join the ranks of past recipients whom I deeply respect and am proud to call friends, this award is not mine alone.
"It is a testament to both the visible and unseen strength that comes from collaborating with the extraordinary individuals at Carr, who I am honoured to call my team.
"As always, I look forward - never back. The legacy of Carr is built upon the future. Day in day out, I wake up every morning excited about what will unfold - whether that be new opportunities, mentoring my team, design and delivery for our clients, embracing technology, and liaising with our industry.
"This industry is built on collaboration. Where there are challenges, we solve it. Together."
