Congratulations to Suman Adirala – April Kookaburra Volunteer of the Month

Cricket Victoria is proud to recognise United Tarneit Sports Club's Suman Adirala as the April Volunteer of the Month, celebrating his outstanding contribution to community cricket during National Volunteer Week.

Suman has played a pivotal role in transforming UTSC's junior cricket program ahead of the 2025-26 season, taking on the dual responsibilities of Vice-President of Junior Cricket and Head Coach to help drive significant growth both on and off the field.

Across a single season, Suman contributed more than 185 volunteer hours to the club, helping deliver a remarkable 51% increase in junior participation, with player numbers growing from 47 to 71. The growth allowed UTSC to expand to eight junior teams, creating more opportunities for local children to get involved in cricket.

Recognising the importance of creating strong entry points into the game, Suman launched the club's inaugural Under 8s program and introduced a four-week "Pop-Up" Woolworths Cricket Blast program to engage more families in the local community.

Working closely with Cricket Victoria staff, Suman also helped deliver school outreach programs at Dohertys Creek P-9 College and several other schools across the region, further strengthening the club's connection with the local community and inspiring the next generation of players.

To improve the game day experience for families and volunteers alike, Suman introduced a 'Two-Parent Game Day Roster' system, helping reduce volunteer burnout while allowing coaches to focus on player development.

Suman's commitment has also extended beyond the summer season, with the introduction of Expressions of Interest for the MYCA Winter Cricket competition and the launch of a UTSC Business Directory to support local parent-owned businesses connected to the club community.

Suman's tireless dedication, leadership and passion for creating opportunities for young cricketers embody the true spirit of volunteerism in community cricket.

Cricket Victoria congratulates Suman Adirala on this well-deserved recognition and thanks him for his ongoing contributions to our great game.

Suman will receive a $200 Kookaburra Cricket voucher for United Tarneit Sports Club as the Volunteer of the Month for April.
