Summer Reading Club superstars treated to a majestic night at cinema

The Summer Reading Club has come to a close but not without a proper wrap up event to celebrate the achievements of the young readers who participated.

Throughout the summer, Kempsey Shire Libraries have been encouraging children and young adults ages 3-18 to sign up for its Summer Reading Club program and this event was the last of several activities offered to participants over the course of the summer.

Eligible Summer Reading Club participants were treated to a night at the cinema complete with popcorn or a choc top and an exclusive free screening of The Croods: A New Age to congratulate them on their literary achievements.

Kempsey Shire librarian, Yvette McAlister, says this summer's wrap event was the biggest one they've planned yet.

"We had so many young people participate in the Summer Reading Club this year, so we really wanted to reward them with something special!

"In addition to a long list of other great prizes, participants were able to join us for an exclusive film screening and tasty treat at Kempsey's Majestic Cinema."

"It was wonderful to see all of the happy faces at the event and absolutely the perfect way to close out the summer. We can't wait to start planning for next year," said Ms McAlister.
