SunCentral Maroochydore Pty Ltd board to have two new directors

Two new faces with extensive property development and commercial marketing expertise have been endorsed by Sunshine Coast Council for appointment to the board of SunCentral Maroochydore Pty Ltd.

With two of the five board director positions falling vacant at the end of March 2019, Council initiated a national recruitment process in January utilising an external agency with expertise in recruiting for board director roles.

Sunshine Coast Council Mayor Mark Jamieson has confirmed that Alison Quinn and Paul McLean will fill the two vacancies on the SunCentral Maroochydore Pty Ltd.

"I am delighted that Ms Quinn and Mr McLean have accepted the opportunity to join the board of a company that is overseeing one of the leading region-making projects in our Sunshine Coast," Mayor Jamieson said.

"SunCentral Maroochydore Pty Ltd oversees the development and delivery of the Maroochydore City Centre – Australia's only green field central business district development at this time.

"Both Ms Quinn and Mr McLean possess decades of experience in chief and senior executive and board level roles, with particular expertise in commercial activities in the property development and management industries.

"Their skills and industry insights will complement those of other SunCentral board members and help ensure this important regional project continues to progress in the years ahead."

Alison Quinn has extensive senior executive and non-executive director experience in banking, finance and property development across the corporate and public sectors.

Her expertise in the property sector, which has been developed since 1994, covers residential, commercial, retail and retirement living, including being responsible during 2009-2011 for the strategic repositioning of Sanctuary Cove, Australia's first and largest master planned integrated resort community.

More recently, Ms Quinn was Chief Executive Officer of Retire Australia, Australia's largest private operator, developer and manager of seniors housing.

Ms Quinn has also served on a number of boards across the property and infrastructure development sectors and community organisations including the Property Council of Australia (Qld), the Urban Development Institute of Australia (Qld), St Margaret's Anglican Girls School, Brisbane Powerhouse Centre for Live Arts and Urban Renewal Brisbane.

Paul McLean has been involved in executive leadership roles in property management and commercial real estate since 1990.

Formerly the Chief Executive Officer of Savills Australia, Mr McLean oversaw the strategic growth of Savills in Australia and New Zealand as well as integrating many parts of the business into a global framework.

Mr McLean is also Chairman of Youngcare, Chair of the Property Committee for the Mater Group, a member of the Property and Building Committee for the Catholic Archdiocese of Brisbane and a director of Rugby Australia.

SunCentral Maroochydore Pty Ltd Chairman Dr Doug McTaggart welcomed the appointment of Ms Quinn and Mr McLean and looked forward to working with them through the next phase of the Maroochydore City Centre development.

"Both Ms Quinn and Mr McLean impressed me throughout the recruitment and selection process with their understanding of this project and the objectives we are seeking to achieve for the Sunshine Coast," Dr McTaggart said.

"I believe they will both make a significant contribution to the board and bring their own particular experiences to the table, which can only be beneficial for the Maroochydore City Centre development.

"Our board has been given an important job to do by Council to bring the city centre out of the ground and I believe both Ms Quinn and Mr McLean will play an important part in helping us to achieve that goal."

Mayor Jamieson also acknowledged the contribution to SunCentral Maroochydore Pty Ltd of Ms Jude Munro AO and Mr Michael Kerry, whose terms concluded at the end of March 2019.

"It has been a great privilege for our Council to have people of the calibre of Jude Munro and Michael Kerry directly involved in the establishment and early years of SunCentral and the Maroochydore City Centre project," Mayor Jamieson said.

"Both Ms Munro and Mr Kerry have demonstrated outstanding leadership in helping to bring the Maroochydore City Centre to where it is today and lay the foundations for this quite unique project of regional significance.

"Our Council is very grateful for their contribution over the last four years to getting this project off the drawing board and into the market place."

Council has also confirmed the continuation of Mr Don Boyd and Mr Morgan Parker as directors of SunCentral Maroochydore Pty Ltd and approved an extension of the term of appointment of Dr McTaggart as Chairperson to 30 April 2021.
