The Crisafulli Government is banging the drum for more concerts at Suncorp Stadium in 2026, by temporarily increasing the concert cap to meet demand, support tourism, and ensure Brisbane continues to attract major global tours.
The venue can now host up to 21 concerts this year, an increase from the standard cap of 12 concerts per year, following a temporary amendment to the Major Sports Facilities Regulation 2014.
The annual concert cap was lifted from up to six concerts to up to 12 concerts in 2025 after a successful trial period.
Suncorp Stadium is expected to welcome 250,000 patrons through the doors over 1.5 weeks as it hosts the Australian exclusive of The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo and Ed Sheeran.
The Crisafulli Government is striking a chord with Queenslanders by aggressively working to secure more major music events, as part of its bold 20-year tourism strategy, Destination 2045.
It comes ahead of a massive year of major sporting events already locked in at Suncorp Stadium including NRL Magic Round, Men's and Women's State of Origin, Wallabies V France and the Rugby League World Cup.
It comes after the former Labor Government neglected to develop a long-term tourism strategy during their decade of decline and under investment.
Minister for Sport and Racing and Minister for Olympic and Paralympic Games Tim Mander said the Government was responding to strong demand for more major acts to come to Brisbane.
"Queensland's ability to host world-class events shows exactly why we are increasingly becoming the home of major sports and events in Australia," Minister Mander said.
"By temporarily lifting the concert cap we can secure more global tours, support local jobs and strengthen Brisbane's reputation as a world-class events destination as we build toward the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
"We'll continue to work closely with the local community to ensure residents are informed about additional events in 2026."
