Sunshine Coast parking update

The approach to compliance and enforcement taken by Sunshine Coast Council has been altered over the past few months due to the COVID-19 pandemic – council has taken an educational approach to enforcement and put a hold on issuing infringements.

Now that restrictions have eased further, council is seeing an increase in complaints about people continuing to put the safety of others at risk or doing the wrong thing, so the decision has been made to reintroduce enforcement from Wednesday, July 1, using a risk-based approach.

The risk-based approach means that from Wednesday, July 1, parking officers will recommence: issuing infringements where a sign or line makes the offence clear to the driver and issuing infringements for safety breaches (e.g. parking on a yellow line).

As previously advised, parking meters in Caloundra and Birtinya will be turned on again on Wednesday, July 1.

Motorists are encouraged to make cashless payment using credit or debit cards or the EasyPark app.
