EX-SERVICE organisations (ESOs) across Australia are invited to apply for a share of up to $145,000 in funding to continue their vital support role to our veteran community, as part of the annual Grants-In-Aid program.
Minister for Veterans' Affairs Darren Chester said applications were now open for eligible national ESOs to apply for grants of up to $10,000 to help connect with their local branches.
"ESOs are a critical part of providing a stable support system for veterans and their families, which is why the Australian Government is committed to working with them and investing in this relationship," Mr Chester said.
"This essential funding will help them improve service delivery to veterans, their partners and families. It will also enable better connectedness through representational activities within the Australian veteran and Defence community."
The funding from the Department of Veterans' Affairs' (DVA) Grants-In-Aid program will support ESOs around the country to support their branches, sub-branches and affiliated organisations in performing advocacy, pension and welfare work, and improve communication between their networks.
"I would like to thank the ESO network for their on-going essential support and commitment to the veteran community," Mr Chester said.
"The role they play is complementary to DVA, providing mateship, welfare support and social networks for the ex-service community. Additionally they also help veterans and their families connect with DVA and often advocate on their behalf."
