Support for Indigenous art centres and fairs

The Indigenous arts sector will receive an extra $7 million through the Indigenous Visual Arts Industry Support (IVAIS) Program during COVID-19.

The funding is part of the Government's targeted support package for areas of the arts industry hard hit by COVID-19, and will provide much-needed assistance while art sales are severely limited by travel restrictions and the economic downturn.

Payment will be made directly to IVAIS-funded Indigenous art centres and IVAIS-funded art fairs to maintain operations, support artists and their communities and enable artists to continue creating artworks and generate income through online sales.

The funding will make sure art centres are ready to supply artwork as soon as possible through art fairs, which will be an important part of the recovery.

The relief package complements existing whole-of-economy support and assistance measures already in place and assisting the arts sector.
