Supporting mental health of young Tasmanians

Will Hodgman,Premier

The mental health and wellbeing of all Tasmanians, including young Tasmanians, is an absolute priority for my Government.

We are taking a holistic, multi-faceted approach to supporting young Tasmanians in need, as there is no single, simple way to address mental health issues.

It includes a significant increase in professional support staff in schools since my Government came to office 2014, with 65 more positions, including psychologists, social workers and nurses.

On World Mental Health Day, we encourage all Tasmanians to reflect on how we perceive mental illness in our community.

The Labor Party, who cannot even answer basic questions about staffing their $40 million unfunded policy, might also reflect on not playing politics with people's mental health.
