The IntoWork Australia Group, whose focus is to support individual choice, social and economic participation in the community, is pleased to be delivering in partnership with Tasmanian Multicultural Services (TMS), a new program to support migrants to settle and integrate into the Tasmanian community, with a particular focus on career and employment goals.
This new partnership provides the opportunity for IntoWork Australia and Tasmanian Multicultural Services to assist refugees and humanitarian entrants to Australia, as well as their families and communities, with building skills needed to thrive both economically and socially. These aims are at the centre of the Department of Social Services' new Settlement Engagement and Transition Services (SETS) program, which will be replacing the current Settlement Grants Program.
Mr Poul Bottern, Group CEO of IntoWork Australia said "The partnership with Tasmanian Multicultural Services in assisting new migrants is a very exciting commonwealth government funded initiative, which focuses on supporting their career and employment goals. It will be well supported by our experience in a range of employment sectors, and our business connections throughout Tasmania".
The SETS program are delivered with each person's needs in mind, providing tailored, flexible supports through case management and service coordination. Typically, the type of supports may include English language skills, understanding Australian laws, customs and government requirements, financial literacy skills, employment and career services and community integration support.
With key Tasmanian businesses including Interact Australia, which supports people with a disability in finding employment and social inclusion programs, and Work & Training, supporting employers and young people in the apprenticeship and training, and MAS National, mentoring businesses and supporting apprentices, IntoWork is well placed to help new migrants settle into their chosen careers.

In recent years, Tasmanian Multicultural Services have worked intensively to settle more than 3,000 humanitarian entrants in their new home. This new program is a dynamic initiative that further develops the support that TMS can deliver in assisting migrants to our wonderful part of Australia."
