Supporting More Clubs In Their Time Of Need

VIC Premier

The Andrews Labor Government is helping sporting clubs affected by disaster or unforeseen events get back in the game.

Minister for Community Sport Ros Spence today announced eleven clubs from across the state will share in more than $19,000 from the Labor Government’s Emergency Sporting Equipment Grants Program.

The Programhelps clubs get back to business by providing swift, practical support to replace essential sporting and first aid equipment lost or destroyed through fire, flood, significant storms, theft or criminal damage.

The latest round of grant recipients includes Bullengarook Pony Club which received $1,900 towards replacing stolen horse jumping equipment after break-in and theft.

The Ferntree Gully Footballers Cricket Club also received $2,000 to replace stolen junior equipment including cricket pads and balls which was preventing the club from being able to train and play.

Mernda Football Netball Club also received $1,970 to replace first aid equipment damaged due to flooding.

These initiatives are just one part of the Labor Government’s work to make community sport more accessible and inclusive, stimulate local economies, build local sport and volunteer opportunities, and increase participation.
