The City of Swan's Community Care Services is continuing to support vulnerable seniors during the COVID-19 pandemic with in home services, shopping, transport to medical appointments and welfare calls.

As part of the City's initial response, staff made contact with over 600 clients to ensure they all have access to basic groceries, vital medication and the latest advice from the Health Department.

Although group outings and weekly social club gatherings have been temporarily suspended, staff are ensuring that members remain feeling connected. One member with advanced dementia is able to communicate over Facetime with plenty of smiles and hand gestures. Another member who loves music has created a two-person choir over the phoneline.

Clients that reported feeling particularly alone and anxious in April are saying that they now feel less worried and more confident about the new normal.
