Supporting sport & recreation in Canberra with grants opening

With community sport back, Canberra's organisations can now apply for funding from the Sport and Recreation Grants Program. It will be great to see Canberrans getting back in the game and assisting more people in our community to take those first steps towards a more active lifestyle.

The $2.6 million Sport and Recreation Grants Program provides funding to develop and deliver quality physical activity programs and services for the Canberra community.

The grants can provide funding across many different projects that benefit a wide range of sports and organisations across Canberra.

Last year some of the grants issued resulted in LED lighting upgrades for the Kambah Tennis Club; shade sails at the Hawker International Softball Centre; additional mountain bike trails at the Cotter; the development of youth programs with Table Tennis ACT; Disability Awareness Training for Capital Football; and an electronic scoring system for Boxing ACT.

This grants round is timely and will further assist organisations to rebuild re-build participation as we emerge from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown in the ACT.

I'm looking forward to seeing the new ideas and proposals presented in this year's applications.

The Sport and Recreation Grants Program is another way we are supporting Canberrans while providing economic stimulus and supporting jobs across the ACT.
