Statement by Warrnambool Mayor Cr Vicki Jellie in relation to Supreme Court decision of June 11, 2021
Warrnambool City Council respects and will abide by the decision announced today by the Supreme Court.
In July last year the previous Council made a decision to dismiss the then Chief Executive Officer, Peter Schneider.
This decision was contested in the Supreme Court and the Court has found in Mr Schneider's favour.
Council is now awaiting further instructions from our lawyers regarding the specific directions of the Court.
We need to understand the costs and will need to make allowances in the Annual Budget for 2021-2022 which we are in the process of finalising.
