Suspect sought over series of bag snatches, SA

Western District CIB detectives are investigating a series of street robberies that occurred on Saturday 6 October, according to SA Police.


A red Renault Clio, registration S710BBT, was stolen during a break-in at an Exeter home between 7.45am on Friday 5 October and 3pm the following day.

Investigators have linked the stolen car to five bag snatches on Saturday 6 October. The stolen car was located by police at Salisbury Plain about 6.30pm on 6 October.

At 3.40pm, a woman had her bag stolen at West Lakes Shopping Centre car park.

Just after 4pm, a male tried to steal a woman's handbag as she was walking along North Terrace, Adelaide. The victim was dragged along the ground, but the suspect ran off empty-handed and got into the passenger side of a red hatchback.

About 4.15pm, a woman was pushed and had her bag stolen in Bunnings Mile End car park.

At 4.30pm, while waiting at traffic lights on Greenhill Road, Glen Osmond, a woman had her bag stolen while she was sitting in the passenger seat of a vehicle.

About 6pm, a woman was sitting at bus stop 24 on Newton Road, Newton, when a man grabbed her bag and ran off to the waiting vehicle.

In each instance, the suspect is described as a young man of Aboriginal appearance, wearing a baseball cap, dark hoodie and shorts.
