Suspect Vehicle ID'd in Eastern Suburbs Assault Probe

Eastern District detectives have identified a vehicle believed to be involved in two indecent assaults in the Norwood/Toorak Gardens area and are seeking help from the public.

About 8.15pm on Friday 20 February, a woman was walking on Alfred Street when she was approached from behind by an unknown man who indecently assaulted her.

In the second incident, sometime between 8.30pm and 9pm a woman was walking on Grant Avenue in Toorak Gardens near a bowling club when she was indecently assaulted by an unknown man.

In both incidents the suspect fled on foot. Neither woman was physically injured.

Police believe the same man was involved in both incidents. He is described as about 175cm tall, medium build, bald or with thinning hair, wearing an olive-coloured T-shirt and black shorts with a white logo on the left leg and white sneakers.

Detectives have reviewed CCTV footage which captures the suspect and his red hatchback in the vicinity of one of the incidents.

The vehicle has been identified as a red Holden Barina hatchback similar to the stock image provided below. It was last seen turning left onto Kensington Road from Giles Street, Toorak Gardens.

Detectives would also like to hear from anyone who may have dashcam footage around the time of the two offences, in and around the Norwood/Toorak Gardens area, that caught a sighting of the red hatch.

Anyone who recognises the man or his vehicle is urged to contact Crime Stoppers online at www.crimestopperssa.com.au or via free call 1800 333 000. You can remain anonymous.
