Suspicious boat fire in Deeral, QLD

Police are investigating after a boat was found this morning with extensive damage in Deeral, Queensland Police say.

The 22-meter catamaran was moored at a jetty on the Mulgrave River near Ross Road overnight and when the owner returned this morning, the boat had suffered a significant amount of damage.

On arrival, officers located some electrical equipment from the boat had been thrown into the river.

A fire had also been lit on the lower deck which has caused a large amount of damage to the deck, frame of the boat as well as electrical equipment.

No one was injured as a result of the fire.

Police are appealing to anyone that saw or heard any suspicious activity in the area to contact them.
