Suspicious fire arrest, Whitsunday

Police from Whitsunday Station have taken a 12-year-old boy into custody following a suspicious fire in an unoccupied house at Jubilee Pocket yesterday, August 29.

Police were called to the house on Shute Harbour Road at 4pm and assisted fire crews as they contained the blaze.

The house was known to be unoccupied, and no physical injuries were sustained by any person.

A number of juveniles were spoken to by police nearby with a 12-year-old boy arrested and charged with one count of arson.

He will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act.
