Police are investigating two house fires in West Tamworth in the past 24 hours which are suspected of being deliberately lit, NSW Police say.
The first fire was in Cole Road, West Tamworth, about 2pm yesterday (Monday 1 January 2017), with the second occurring at Bourne Street, West Tamworth, about 3am today (Tuesday 2 January 2017).
Officers from Fire & Rescue NSW extinguished both fires before handing the scenes over to police.
There was no one home at either fire, both of which caused significant damage to the properties.
Detectives from Oxley Local Area Command are now investigating both fires which are believed to have been deliberately lit. They are making inquiries into possible links between the two incidents.
Police are appealing for anyone with information about the two fires to come forward.
Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
