Swimmer reported missing located safe and well on state's north coast

Police have located a woman who was believed to have gone missing while swimming on the state's north coast today

About 11.30am (Tuesday 11 October 2022), emergency services were called to Kingscliff Beach, Kingscliff, after a member of the public reported they had witnessed someone in the water who was experiencing difficulty.

Officers attached to Tweed-Byron Police District and Marine Area Command conducted an extensive land and sea search for the swimmer, with the assistance from Surf Life Saving Australia, NSW Ambulance and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service.

Despite ongoing search efforts, the woman was not located.

Following further inquiries, the woman was located safe and well in Kingscliff about 4.40pm.

Police have been told the woman had gone for a swim this morning and had returned to shore safely.
