The Albanese Labor Government is continuing to support growth of TAFE across New South Wales, investing $3.2 million in its St Leonards campus as part of the ongoing TAFE Technology Fund.
The money will be used for cutting-edge equipment in the campus' existing TV studio and involves the design and installation of a LED video wall, measuring at least 8 metres by 5 metres.
This technology is vital for the world of live entertainment, with training that can lead to an exciting career in television, news or film production.
The new project is one of ten across Australia as part of the $21.8 million Tranche 2 of the TAFE Technology Fund.
Through both tranches of the Fund, TAFEs across the country will share in $50 million to upgrade and expand their facilities including laboratories, workshops, new equipment and simulated learning environments.
This investment builds on opportunities created through the government's Fee-Free TAFE initiative, which removed financial barriers to enrolment for 355,000 Australians in 2023.
More than 182,000 New South Wales students enrolled in Fee-Free TAFE last year, including over 9,600 students in digital and technology related courses.
And we're continuing to support fee-free study in the vocational education and training sector, rolling out an additional 300,000 places from this year.
The growing number of people across the New South Wale studying in essential areas of our economy is helping Australia respond to skills shortages and prepare for our country's future.
