Works to carry out Stage Two of the Talbot/Avoca Road are now underway.

The upgrade includes a full road reconstruction and culvert renewal works.

The one kilometre stretch of road is located either side of the Amherst Cemetery.

Works are being delivered by Council's Works team and are expected to take eight to 10 weeks to complete.

Temporary lane closures may be required during the project. Motorists should obey changed traffic conditions.

Central Goldfields Shire Chief Administrator Noel Harvey said the major upgrades complement other major upgrades along Talbot/Avoca Road which took place last year.

"Council has already completed significant upgrades along a different section of the Talbot/Avoca Road and these works are a continuation of these," he said.

The $693,000 project is jointly funded by the State Government Fixing Country Roads Program ($462,000) and Council ($231,000).
