- Vital upgrades to changerooms at Tallebudgera Surf Life Saving Club near completion.
- The $150,000 project was funded through the Crisafulli Government's $250m Games On! program.
- Queenslanders have now seen 10 months of delivering for grassroots sports under the Crisafulli Government, after 10 years of decline under the former Labor Government.
The Crisafulli Government is delivering upgraded changerooms for the Tallebudgera Surf Life Saving Club through its $250 million Games On! program ahead of a busy summer on the beach and in the water.
The $150,000 investment from the Crisafulli Government will ensure Surf Life Savers are well placed to serve the community.
Beach patrols are conducted by the club from mid-September through to the end of April each year. The club also have an extensive surf sports program from nippers to open and masters competition.
After 10 years of decline under Labor, the Crisafulli Government is investing in the infrastructure needed to support grassroots sport.
Minister for Sport and Racing and Minister for the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tim Mander said Surf Life Savers deserve the best facilities that can be provided.
"The Crisafulli Government's $250 million Games On! program is a commitment to enhancing grassroots sports and community clubs across the state, to give our next generation of athletes the best chance of success," Minister Mander said.
"Queensland's Surf Life Savers commit their time, skill, determination and courage to protect their community."
"The changerooms will support the sport program here, which is helping to hone the skills required on patrol as well as guiding and training our future Surf Life Savers.
"Better facilities will also encourage greater participation to see even more Queenslanders being active."
Member for Burleigh Hermann Vorster said the upgraded facilities will mean a safer Gold Coast community.
"We committed $150,000 to deliver these renovations and help the Tallebudgera Surf Life Savers," Mr Vorster said.
"We want the best facilities, not only to keep our community safe, but also to attract and retain the dedicated volunteers who make surf lifesaving possible.
These upgrades will back in their efforts, strengthen participation, and ensure the next generation of surf lifesavers has the support they need to keep our beaches safe.
I can't wait to see the finished works as we look forward to another huge summer on the Gold Coast."
