Taskforce Falcon Charges Five in Merrylands Shooting

Taskforce Falcon detectives have charged five people as part of an investigation into a public place shooting in Merrylands yesterday.

About 9.20am (Thursday 12 June 2025), officers attached to Cumberland Police Area Command were called to Earl Street in Merrylands following reports of a shooting.

No one was home at the time and there were no reports of injuries.

A short time later, a burnt-out Porsche was located in Beverley Crescent, Chester Hill.

The group allegedly left Chester Hill in a Hyundai, and were tracked by PolAir, before being arrested about 9.40am on McMahon Road in Yagoona trying to flee from police on foot.

Three men – aged 20, 22 and 23 – were taken to Granville Police Station, where they were charged with conspire to discharge firearm etc intend cause grievous bodily harm, fire firearm at dwelling etc organised criminal activity, damage property by fire/exp >$15000, and participate in a criminal group.

The 22-year-old man was also charged with acquire etc pistol-subject to firearms prohibition order.

The men were refused bail to appear in Parramatta Local Court today (Friday 13 June 2025).

Around the same time, a Ford Territory was allegedly seen driving erratically before crashing on Prospect Road in Greystanes.

The male passengers of the car, two 17-year-olds, were detained by citizens before police arrived and placed them under arrest.

During a search of the car, police located and seized jerry cans containing fuel, bleach, balaclavas, and a knife.

The teens were taken to Bankstown Police Station, where they were charged with take & drive conveyance without consent of owner, accessory before the fact to damage property by fire/exp >$15000, custody of knife in public place and participate in a criminal group.

One of the males was also wanted by Robbery & Serious Crime Squad for a having allegedly been involved in a home invasion in Ermington in February.

He received additional charges, including accessory before and after the fact to an aggravated break & enter & commit serious indictable offence-inflict actual bodily harm, drive conveyance taken without consent of owner, drive motor vehicle during disqualification period, two counts of possess unauthorised prohibited firearm, two counts of possess unauthorised pistol, and participate in a criminal group.

They were both refused bail to appear in a Children's Court today.

Police continue to investigate whether the crash in Greystanes is linked to the shooting.

The matters are being investigated by Taskforce Falcon detectives.
