Taskforce Maxima ecstasy and ice arrest in Brisbane, QLD

Officers from Taskforce Maxima have seized drugs including over 2,500 MDMA tablets and arrested a 32-year-old Brisbane man, Queensland Police say.

The arrest and seizure follows the execution of a search warrant yesterday afternoon at a residence in Stafford Heights.

About 2pm yesterday, officers entered the dwelling and detained the occupants. A search located a number of heat sealed plastic bags allegedly containing MDMA tablets. Also located and seized were a mobile telephone, documents and approximately 80grams of a substance believed to methylamphetamine.

"This is a significant mid-level seizure and it will disrupt the activities of the drug syndicate involved," Detective Inspector Jason Gough said.

The tablets were all brown in colour and stamped with the ‘@’ symbol.

"We are currently reviewing the evidence to determine whether further or more serious charges will be laid. Anybody who has information about the distribution of these tablets is asked to contact Crime Stoppers," he said.

The arrested man is said to have been a close associate of members of the Hells Angels criminal motorcycle gang.

He has been charged with drug supply and possession charges and will appear in custody in the Brisbane Magistrates Court this morning.

Anyone with information which could assist with this matter should contact Crime Stoppers anonymously.
