This morning detectives from Taskforce Maxima (Gold Coast) charged a man following the location of handguns and ammunition at a Runaway Bay address, Queensland Police say.
Officers executed a search warrant at the address in relation to a man with OMCG associations wanted in connection with a number of investigations.
During the search, officers located drug-related items, two semi-automatic handguns and ammunition. A 46-year-old man was charged with a number of drug, weapon and assault charges.
"In this instance officers from Taskforce Maxima with the assistance of Gold Coast police have been able to respond swiftly to information received from a member of the public and the seizure of two unlicensed concealable firearms is certainly pleasing," Acting Detective Inspector Jason Gough from Taskforce Maxima said.
