Taskforce Maxima, OMCG participant arrested for drug and prohibited item offences

As a result of ongoing investigations into drug offences and the possession of prohibited items in a public place by members of Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs (OMCG), detectives from Taskforce Maxima, State Crime Command have charged a 27-year-old man with drug and prohibited item offences, Queensland Police say.

Yesterday a search warrant was executed on an Ormeau address resulting in the location of cocaine, steroids and restricted drugs.  This search also located a number of Bandido OMCG caps.

As a result, a 27-year-old Ormeau man, a probationary member of the Bandido OMCG Gold Coast chapter, was arrested for three counts of the possession of dangerous drugs, one count of possession of a restricted drug, one count of possess utensil and two counts of display prohibited item in a public place.

The man had been observed to be wearing the Bandido caps (which are a prohibited item in public) on two occasions in January and February 2017.

He will appear in the Southport Magistrates Court today.

"OMCG and other organised crime gangs need to understand that the spotlight is still firmly focused on their criminal activities and the QPS will take every opportunity for enforcement action and to make the community safer.  We continue to be unrelenting in our efforts," Detective Superintendent Michael Niland from Task Force Maxima said.
