Taskforce Maxima – Operation North Haymarket

Detectives from Taskforce Maxima have charged six people on 60 charges as a result of Operation North Haymarket, Queensland Police say.

Two of the six people charged as part of the 18 month investigation targeting drug trafficking offences linked to organised crime and Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs are alleged to be Bandido associates.

Search warrants were executed in a number of locations across Brisbane, East Brisbane, Newstead, Clayfield and Hamilton which lead to the seizure of cocaine, MDMA, restricted drugs, steroids, cash and stolen property.

A 35-year-old man from Wynnum who is an OMCG Bandido associate was charged with six counts of supply cocaine, two counts of possession of drugs and possession of a stolen concrete saw.

He was granted bail and will appear at Wynnum Magistrates Court on November 28.

The second Bandido associate, a 32-year-old man from East Brisbane, was charged with trafficking cocaine and was further charged with 16 counts of possession of a large variety of steroids including tepro hormone, stenazol, testosterone, trembalone, emanthate, testaprop, Ilium Balgerbal and Deca 50.

He was granted bail and will reappear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on November 29.

The arrests are the continuation of an 18 month investigation targeting drug trafficking offences linked to organized crime and the Bandidos Outlaw Motorcycle Gang.

Acting Detective Inspector Tim Leadbetter of Taskforce Maxima said the arrests were further evidence of the involvement of OMCG members and associates in a variety of high level criminal offences and the links between them and organised crime syndicates.

He said Taskforce Maxima and the QPS will continue to target organised crime figures and OMCGs in order to stop crime and make the community safer for all Queenslanders.
