Tasmania Advances in Delivering Multipurpose Stadium

Nic Street, Minister for Stadia and Events

Now that the Parliament has approved the Order declaring our multipurpose stadium at Mac Point a Project of State Significance, the Rockliff Liberal Government is getting on with the job.

Minister for Stadia and Events, Nic Street, said the Tasmanian Planning Commission had recently released the draft integrated guidelines to assess the project.

"This comprehensive document will inform the design of the stadium, and the application that will be prepared for the panel's consideration," Minister Street said.

The assessment, which includes opportunities for the community to have their say, is undertaken by the Commission at arms-length from the Government.

The Rockliff Liberal Government is also assembling its team, with the position of Project Director, Mac Point multipurpose stadium now advertised.

A link to the application information and position description can be found here, applications are open until Sunday, 21 January.

Key tenders will also be released shortly to procure project management expertise to deliver the project, and we're preparing a package to release in January to commence a Request for Tender process to secure a suitably experienced team to design our stadium.

Minister Street said the Rockliff Liberal Government is getting on with the job of delivering game-changing infrastructure that grows our economy and creates more jobs.

"The multi-purpose stadium at Mac Point will be the centrepiece of this important precinct, unlocking investment and jobs," Minister Street said.

"The Rockliff Liberal Government has the vision, aspiration, and conviction to continue taking Tasmania forward."
